I won't name names, but this was one Z owners experience with his Z... --snip-- Here is the chronological order of major maintenance but modifications or tuning: 1-1997 after Driving the car for a month, Clutch gone, Segmented Kevlar $800 2-1998 Timing belt is due + all the BS that comes with it, $900 3-1998 Front main seal, rear main seal new clutch since the tranny is on the floor any ways, $1400 4-1999 Turbos shot, Nissan pitches in, $5000 5-1999 HICAS goes bananas, Thanks Nissan Gold+ $1500 6-2000 Piston #2 making 22 LB, new short block, new turbos, thanks Nissan+ $10,000. 7-2001 Brake master, Clutch master + slave $500 8-2001 engine likes to smoke in the morning, new valves, In progress as we speak --snip--over twenty thousand dollars... My personal experience, dropped 9 grand for a very nice NA, blew clutch (it was prolly on it's way out), power steering pump went out, alternator/battery, got broken into, got rear ended (didn't do much damage), broke down in tennessee on a road trip......and i *thought* i was getting a GREAT LOW MAINTANCE CAR when i jumped into it almost as fast as you did. learn from people on this board, they'll tell you, it's a GREAT CAR when it's running, and all those dollars you spend on repairs are worth it when you sail up to 100+ mph on a clear night with the T-tops off....yeah, but don't forget, you have to have those dollars to make it worth it. if your parents have deep pockets and don't mind helping you fix it when it breaks, then go for it. but only spending 7500 isn't going to get you a perfect ride. my $.02
